Stay With Me – Sam Smith – Easy Guitar Tutorial (with Strumming/Fingerstyle/Percussion lesson)

by IanM on September 20, 2015

An easy guitar lesson for beginners who want to learn to play (and sing) “Stay With Me” by Sam Smith, with easy chords and strumming, no capo, and no bar chords.

In this lesson I also teach a fingerstyle arrangement of the chorus (can be played as an intro or outro), plucking patterns you can use for any part of the song, and a percussion rhythm to make your acoustic cover sound more like the original song.

Replace F with F7 if you find F too hard to press.

Chords used: Am F C
Additional Chords that can be used: C/B

Strumming pattern:
d___d_du (recommended)

Strum-Pluck pattern:
(Am)d   (F)d   (C)d   (C)4323 (each number represents the string number to be played)

Plucking Pattern:
(Am)5432 (F)4323 (C)5432 (C)5432

Strumming with Percussion rhythm:
(Am) d_bump_du (F) d_bump_du (C) d_bump_uu (C) d_bump___
