This song can be played with just 4 basic chords. Great for beginners who want to practice the normal “G”, “D”, “Em”, “Am” and “C” chords.

HOW DO I  PLAY “STAY THE NIGHT” By JAMES BLUNT SO IT SOUNDS THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL SONG?

Capo the 7th fret and use the recommended chords. If you don’t have a capo, use the chords D, A, Bm, Em and G instead of G, D, Em, Am and C as used in the recommended chords.

IS THERE AN EASIER WAY TO PLAY ” STAY THE NIGHT ” BY JAMES BLUNT ON GUITAR?

Instead of using the G, D, Em, Am and C chords, try using G, Dsus4, Em7, A7sus4 and Cadd9 instead.

Beginners who have trouble with chord changes tend to find these chords easier to play as you only need to change the position of 2 fingers instead of 4 throughout the song.

HOW DO I SING ” STAY THE NIGHT ” BY JAMES BLUNT WITHOUT STRAINING MY VOICE?

Not everyone is going to be able to sing the song “Stay The Night” exactly the same way as James Blunt can. While there are many people who can sing in the same range and pitch as her, there are many more who can’t.

If you are one of these people then here is some advice for you.

In order to comfortably sing and play the song, you are going to need to transpose the song to a “key” or pitch which you can comfortably sing in.

For example, the original “Stay The Night” song is sung in the key of D. If while singing the song you find that you can sing most of the notes but start to strain your voice when trying to sing the high notes, then you need to pick a lower key to sing the song in.

The idea with transposing songs is to move the highest and lowest notes in a song into your own personal singing range.

Transposing a song can be done quickly and easily if you have a capo. By clipping the capo at different positions on the neck of the guitar you can change the song key without changing the chords you press.

This is recommended for beginners who want to play guitar songs using only easy chords.

HOW DO I TRANSPOSE AND PLAY ” STAY THE NIGHT ” BY JAMES BLUNT ON GUITAR WITHOUT A CAPO?

Below I have transposed the chords for you so just pick a key and use the chords listed below.

Use the recommended chords as a reference and change each chord to their equivalent chord in the song key you want to sing and play in.

For example, if you want to play in the D  key instead of the recommended G key, change  G to D, D to A, Em to Bm and so on. Refer to the list below.

For beginners, my recommendation is to try to use the chords in the C, D or G keys as these don’t use bar chords which can be hard to press if you just started playing:

  1. C Key – C. G, Am, Dm, F <–Alternative easy option
  2. D Key – D, A, Bm, Em, G <– These are the chords for the original song
  3. E  Key – E, B, C#m, F#m, A
  4. F Key – F, C, Dm, Gm, A#
  5. G Key – G, D, Em, Am, C <–Recommended easy option for beginners (recommended chords)
  6. A Key – A, E, F#m, Bm, D
  7. B Key – B, F#, G#m, C#m, E

The song will sound different (higher or lower) for each key so be prepared to adjust your singing to match.
